“When I’m walking about Armitage Street, I see this store and I just walk in from time to time. It’s just the randomness about the store that reels me in,” said Staci Holgate, a frequent customer.
Art Effect has been around since 1984 and is known as a “one stop shop.” While the store sells clothes, it also sells much more than that. You can find bath products, home d’ÛΩcor and more, and stock is always being updated.
Art Effect also has its very own blog called Garnish, featuring sales and new products. On the blog are fashion tips and information about some of the fashion designers whose work can be found at the store. Also listed are events like the Eva Franko Trunk Show, where fall clothing was displayed for the public to view.

“I had never heard of Art Effect until I applied for the job on Craigslist,” said employee floor manager Alex Zen. “We have a birthday club. If you sign up on our list then we send you an e-mail and you can get 15 percent off on one item in the month of your birthday.”
When you sign up for the store’s newsletters, you may sometimes receive fun recipes to try at home, like Esther’s parmesan crusted chicken. And if you’re ever in a cooking mood you should try it too. Overall, Art Effect is a great place to shop for just about anything. There is no age limit to this shop and it’s guaranteed to have something special and random in store for you.
