Multiple reports on Monday said that Northern Illinois’ forward Marin Maric will transfer to DePaul for the 2017-18 season. Maric is immediately eligible and has one year left as a graduate transfer.

Maric is a 6-foot-11 forward who averaged 14.1 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game last season, which led Northern Illinois in both categories. He had entered the 2017 NBA Draft without an agent, which meant he was able to pull out and return to the collegiate scene.

Maric played one year of high school ball at La Lumiere where new DePaul assistant coach Shane Heirman was an assistat. He is originally from Split, Croatia.

This move leaves DePaul with one open scholarship heading into the season as Maric joins Justin Roberts, Jaylen Butz and Paul Reed in the incoming class.
