Weekend round up: September 19-21

With classes officially back in full swing, it’s finally time for a well deserved break this weekend. The transition from a carefree Summer, to a hectic Fall quarter (with hundreds of pages of reading to do every night) can be a bit rough.

However, one of the perks about being back at DePaul is that there’s a lot to do during homework breaks. So whip out your planner and make sure to schedule some fun time between library sessions. If you’re already stressed from school work, spend your Thursday night laughing at a Chicago Class Clowns stand up show.

The Playground Theater located at 3209 N. Halsted St. will be hosting the show that includes a big line up of different comedians, such as Mike Lebovitz and Tim Barnes. DePaul’s own AJ Lubecker will also be performing this Thursday night. Tickets cost only $5 and the show begins at 10:00 p.m., but plan on getting their early to get a good seat. Doors open at 9:40 p.m. for the show.

There’s no more festival of a fall activity than going apple picking. This weekend will have the perfect weather for visiting one of the many apple orchards around Chicago. A visit to Prairie Sky Orchard, all the way out in Union, is a good option for anyone looking for a classic apple picking experience. Admission to the orchard is free, you just pay per pound for the apples you pick. Plus, you can use all the fresh apples to make delicious desserts or to snack on during class.

One of the best things about living in a big city is that bands and artists next skip over you on tour. Kid Cudi will be bringing his “The Cudi Life” tour to the UIC Pavillion this Friday. Logic and Tyler, the Creator are the opening acts for what’s sure to be an awesome show. Tickets are still available for the show on ticketmaster and range in price from $44.03 to $51.74 with fees included.
