Three aggravated crimes committed against DePaul students have been reported to Public Safety in the past week.

May 18, 7:15 p.m.
Battery
Public Safety description of the crime: At 2350 N Kenmore Ave, a DePaul student was a victim of a battery. The offender approached the victim from behind and touched her inappropriately. The offender then fled East-bound from the above location.
May 17, around 7 p.m.
Armed robbery
A student said he was robbed at the Bank of America branch ATM at 201 S. State St. by a man who directed him to deposit a check, withdraw $300 and give it to him. The man told the student he had a gun and fled with an accomplice standing outside, according to the alert.
May 16, 4:45 p.m.
Aggravated assault
Public Safety description: A student reported that when he was on the corner of Jackson and Wabash taking pictures, an unknown male punched his camera aside, then displayed a knife. The offender left the area West bound on Jackson.
May 16, 5:56 a.m.

Crimes that warrant Public Safety alerts via email are typically in instances where an offender has not been apprehended and therefore presents a threat to student and faculty, according to the federally mandated Clery Act, previously reported on in a DePaulia article.

Victim was seated in the Barnes & Nobel Café when the offender approached the victim and made inappropriate contact. A bystander intervened and the offender fled.
