Hillary Clinton, Pat Quinn make coffee stop at DePaul

The Barnes & Noble Starbucks in the DePaul Center was busier than usual between classes around 3 p.m. today when Hillary Clinton and Gov. Pat Quinn stopped by for a coffee and briefly spoke to students.

As security guards ushered Clinton and Quinn through the crowds, the former secretary of state stopped and posed in many selfies with eager students.

“We were just standing here and heard Pat Quinn was coming, so we just waited it out,” Mohammed Abdrabo, a student in the College of Law, said. “One guy came up to us and said, ‘see that truck, it’s Hillary.’ And then she walked out and we freaked out.”

Adrabo was one of the luck few to snag a selfie with the former secretary of state.

Clinton was in Chicago to support Quinn in the upcoming gubernatorial election. After their quick DePaul stop the duo headed up the street to a private fundraiser at a law firm. According to the Sun-Times, the fundraiser brought in $500,000 for Quinn.

During the DePaul photo-op, most students seemed to be more excited to see Clinton, the potential 2016 presidential candidate than Quinn. The governor told students to “get out and vote” as he moved through the crowd.
