DeJuan Marrero, a 6-8, 208 lb. freshman forward from Bowman Academy in Gary, Ind. is out for the season for the men’s basketball team after suffering a torn ACL.
“I want to apologize to my people back home,” Marrero posted on Twitter in several tweets. “I tore my ACL last night in practice. I’m going to sit out this season and get a full recovery. I was really looking forward to this season and helping my team progress and win. I’m going to keep moving forward and think positive.”
Marrero’s torn ACL is the second-season ending knee injury suffered by a member of DePaul’s men’s squad in two years. Freshman Montray Clemons ruptured the patella tendon in his left knee after slipping during warm-ups in last season’s Blue Madness.
