Women’s basketball fans will have to wait further for the final schedule, but Monday, DePaul released the list of non-conference opponents the team will play this coming fall.
Connecticut, as the defending national champions and a former Big East foe, headlines the list that also includes national runner-up Notre Dame and SEC powerhouse Texas A&M. It will be the second year in a row that DePaul plays the team that ended their season, as they lost to Notre Dame in the Round of 32 last year. 2015 will be the second leg of a home-and-home series against all three teams, with Connecticut coming to DePaul this year and the Blue Demons playing Notre Dame and Texas A&M on the road.
Local opponents include Chicago State, Northwestern, Illinois State and Loyola, who provide intra-city and intra-state competition for the Blue Demons.
The only opponent known that is firmly connected to a date is Illinois State, who will open DePaul’s season on Nov. 13 at McGrath-Phillips Arena in the preseason Women’s National Invitational Tournament. The other opponents in the tournament will be determined by how the team does, but some of the possible opponents include Baylor, Indiana and South Florida
Rounding out the opponent’s list are Colgate and South Dakota State. Colgate is led by former DePaul assistant Nicci Hays Fort.
