Focus Editor Kiersten Sinko is spending the majority of her break sitting in a Starbucks browsing Pinterest. She takes the term “break” very seriously, so she refuses to work any job until January, except for working on the DePaulia. In her free time at home she is either doing more Christmas shopping than needed with her mother, babysitting her three younger cousins or watching movies with her brothers. For the holidays this year, Kiersten will be spending her time at home in Niantic, Connecticut. Due to tragic events in her hometown state, the holidays at home will be bittersweet, but it will bring them closer together as a family. She has been asked (again) to be in her church’s Christmas Eve children’s service, but this year she is the Ark Angel instead of playing the role of Mary like last year. Kiersten’s family started a new tradition of opening their presents after the 11 p.m. service at church, bringing in the Christmas magic right at midnight. This tradition started a few years ago since the whole family is required to be at her aunt’s at 7 a.m. that same morning, even earlier if her cousins can’t contain their excitement over Santa’s arrival. After Christmas she plans on going to Indianapolis with Cru DePaul for New Year’s, and can’t wait to start her internship this coming quarter.
