Newly announced headliners for the 34th annual Taste of Chicago festival means outdoor festival season is fast approaching.
This year’s Taste of Chicago will take place at the Petrillo Music Shell in Grant Park July 9-13. Admission is free and festival hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Tickets for the seating area at the Petrillo Music Shell will be on sale starting May 22 at tasteofchicago.us with ticket prices announced at a later date.
Electronic rock band AWOLNATION will headline the festival Wednesday, July 9, with Austin-based alternative rock band Saints of Valory set to open for them.
R&B musician Janelle Monae will headline Thursday, July 10, with blues rock musician Gary Clark Jr. opening.
Root music trio Nickel Creek, folk artist Emmylou Harris, and Oklahoma singer-songwriter Parker Millsap will perform Friday, July 11.
Jeff Tweedy of Chicago indie rock staple Wilco will perform Saturday, July 12.
Soul artist Aloe Blacc Š—ê best known for his guest vocals on EDM artist Avicii’s hit “Wake Me Up” Š—ê headlines the Petrillo stage Sunday, July 13 with reggae legends the Wailers opening for him.
