Hi! I’m Colleen Connolly, the Focus editor of The DePaulia this year. I am a senior studying journalism and anthropology.
I wanted to be the Focus editor because I love reading and writing feature stories and all the creativity that comes with it.
When I’m not in class or at the DePaulia office, you might find me exploring the city, running or biking near the lake, eating at Annette’s or reading books on my Rory Gilmore book list.
On a Saturday night, you’ll find me out and about in the city or watching movies in my apartment.
My favorite thing about DePaul is its location. It’s so easy to get anywhere in the city, and the U-Pass is a godsend.
The best class I’ve taken at DePaul was feature writing because I was writing a new story every week and was able to choose my own topics. I’ve also really enjoyed all of my anthropology classes. From cultural theory to archaeology, every one of them has opened my eyes a little bit more and has heightened my curiosity.
I love eating Cookie Jar ice cream from Annette’s while walking around Lincoln Park at night.
I’m secretly obsessed with Michael Jackson. I tried to learn the moonwalk once, but I have a long ways to go.
You can’t take me away from my jars of peanut butter and Nutella.
This summer I traveled to Washington D.C. for the first time for an internship at Smithsonian magazine.
I can’t wait for the school year to begin so I can see all my friends again and because I love fall weather.
