OKAY SO HERE GOES, HEY EVERYONE, LOOK AT ME IT’S MAX, YOUR DESIGN EDITOR! Who? YOUR DESIGN EDITOR, WHO DOESN’T WRITE STORIES! YUSSS.
So I’m Max Elliott Kleiner, a junior in the graphic design program, picking up an art and design minor. I’m the design editor, style editor, font chancellor, pica pontiff, raster rajah, etc. I don’t really have a set title, I just make sure the paper looks nice and pretty for all you readers.
I wanted my position because I’m pretty obsessed with print media and publication design. Just think about it – think about how many pieces of paper you’ve touched that have had words printed on them. Think about that. Think about all the knowledge you know now because you read it on a page in a book or magazine or advertisement or fortune cookie. It’s kind of a substantial amount (hopefully).
I like to eat. That’s my main hobby. Eating and sleeping and taking baths and annoying my neighbors.
As of late, on a Saturday night, you’d find me cooking alive in my apartment, pigging out on some granola and yogurt. During school, you can find me pigging out on some granola and yogurt, only I won’t be cooking anymore.
My favorite thing about DePaul is that it’s in the middle of Chicago. Like, the school is pretty cool, but the fact that I live in Chicago is way cooler. I like to brag to all of my loser ‘burban friends who go to school in cornfields and tar pits.
The best class I’ve taken at DePaul so far has been Semiotics in Graphic Design with Chris Kalis. It was one of the first classes that I took in the graphic design program. I learned so much in that class in such a short amount of time. It was hella dope, off the chain, the bee’s knees, and pretty nifty, too. Also I got to make logos for saints who died gruesome deaths and became patrons.
I love eating food while breathing.
I’m secretly obsessed with Ru Paul’s Drag Race. Just kidding, that’s not nearly a secret anymore. Oh no she betta don’t.
You can’t take me away from food.
This summer, I’ve been learning the meaning of my money via two part-time jobs. During the day, I’m a mild-mannered sweater folder at the Banana Republic store on Michigan Avenue. And by around 1:30 p.m., I’m an even more mild mannered office assistant at a web design/user experience design firm called Fuzzy Math. Check ’em out. They’re pretty nifty, too.
I can’t wait for the school year to start because I’m getting real tired of sweating every waking moment of the day, I’m also pretty pumped to make the paper look all pretty. Mind the fonts, dears. Also, I’ve always liked school. So back off.
