One of the players who developed the most during the course of last season for DePaul men’s basketball is transferring.
Center Donnavan Kirk is leaving DePaul after two seasons with the team. This is his second transfer in his collegiate career, first leaving Miami after the 2010-2011 season.
Kirk, a junior, averaged 6.2 points per game, 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 25.3 minutes per game last season. It was an improvement over his previous season, where he averaged 3.5 points per game in 18 minutes a game.
WeAreDePaul.com first reported the news as did Jorge Milan of the Palm Beach Post. The DePaul Athletic Department declined to comment, but Kirk himself retweeted the reports on his Twitter account.
While Kirk is transferring, DePaul has added other big men through recruiting. Bigs Tommy Hamilton Jr. and Forrest Robinson were added to provide size and fit in head coach Oliver Purnell’s up-tempo system.
Hamilton Jr. is the son of former NBA player Tommy Hamilton Sr. and is from the Chicago area. He played his senior year of high school at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. Hamilton is 6-foot-10-inches and also played three seasons at Chicago’s Whitney Young High School.
Robinson is also 6-foot-10-inches, transferring from South Plains Junior College. Robinson averaged 1.6 points and 1.2 rebounds per game in his freshman season.
