Coconut Macaroons
These treats are easy to prepare in a fun presentation and reliable for the sweet flavor. The few ingredients work together impressively to create a light and satisfying bite. We follow the recipe published in Everyday Food’s Holiday 2006 issue.
3 large egg whites
½ cup sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
1 package (14 oz. or 5⅓ cups) sweetened flaked coconut)
Preheat oven to 350°. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large bowl, whisk together egg whites, sugar, and salt until frothy. With a fork, gently stir in coconut until moistened. Drop mixture by packed level tablespoons onto sheet. Bake, rotating sheet halfway through, until lightly golden, 25 to 30 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
