Gumdrop Fudge
This sweet, colorful candy is prized for its show-stopping stained glass appearance. A recipe from Taste of Home, it has become a tradition to prepare this dazzling and chewy treat.
1½ lbs. white candy coating (we use CandiQuik)
1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
⅛ teaspoon salt
1½ teaspoon vanilla
1½ cups chopped gumdrops (we buy two boxes of Dots from the candy aisle. Using a heavy knife, cut dots down the middle and twice more into eight small pieces. This is a time-consuming process with the sticky Dots, but worth the results.)
Line a 9” square pan with foil and set aside. In a heavy saucepan or a double boiler, combine the candy coating, milk, and salt. Stir with care over medium heat until melted. Stir in vanilla. Incorporate the chopped gumdrops.
Pour into prepared pan. Cover and refrigerate (or freeze) until firm. Using the foil, remove fudge from pan. Cut into small squares.
