Peppermint Bark
This Green Mint Bark from Taste of Home is a festive treat that has the colors and flavors of the season. Our twist used milk chocolate and green-colored white candy coating reminiscent of an Andes mint. The recipe is customizable, using food coloring for red or green, or white or milk chocolate for either layer.
1 package (10 to 12 ounces) white baking chips (we used milk chocolate as the base)
12 ounces white candy coating (CandiQuik—or simply use white chocolate chips)
1 teaspoon peppermint extract
2 to 3 candy canes, crushed
Line a 9-in. by 13 in. baking sheet with foil; set aside. In microwave, melt chips for bottom layer and stir until smooth. Spread on bottom of prepared baking sheet. Keep in the refrigerator while preparing second layer.
In microwave, melt chips or candy coating for second layer. Stir until smooth. Stir in peppermint extract. Spread carefully over bottom layer. Sprinkle with candy cane pieces.
Chill in refrigerator or freezer until firm. Break into pieces.
