The Goodman Theatre is offering students discounted tickets for Jon Robin Baitz’s play “Other Desert Cities.” The play starts its run this coming Saturday at 8 p.m. Standard priced tickets are valued at $39.
Since its release on Broadway the play has garnered critical acclaim. The New York Times has called it “the best new play on Broadway” and USA Today has called it “funny, maddening and moving.” The play was also a finalist for 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
The plot follows a Christmas Eve family gathering in which Brooke Wyeth (Tracy Michelle Arnold), the daughter of the family, discovers a devastating family secret that just might rip the close knit family apart.
The play will also star Tony Award winning actress Deanna Dunagan, John Hoogenakker, Linda Kimbrough, and Silda Grauman of AMC’s Mad Men fame. Henry Wishcamper will be directing the Chicago production.
Students can purchase tickets this Saturday (Jan. 12) starting at 10 a.m. from the Goodman Theatre website, or noon at the theatre’s box office. Be sure to bring your student ID with you if you opt for the latter. Note: 4 ticket limit per student.
