DePaul head women’s basketball coach Doug Bruno announced Thursday that freshmen Brooke Schulte and Brandi Harvey-Carr will miss the remainder of the 2012-2013 season due to injuries.
Schulte, a 5-9 shooting guard, appeared in seven games this season before tearing her right ACL. The Germantown, Ill. native averaged 1.3 points and 0.7 rebounds in 4.6 minutes of playing time per game.
Harvey-Carr, a 6-4 forward, was diagnosed with a season-ending neck injury. The Camden, N.J. native averaged 6.8 minutes, 1.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in six appearances this season.
Without Schulte and Harvey-Carr, the Blue Demons are losing two-thirds of the freshman class, leaving 6-2 forward Megan Podkowa in the mix. Though having played limited minutes in the young season, Schulte showed glimpses of scoring ability, while Harvey-Carr has time to develop into a proficient rebounder and rim protector.
The Blue Demons will open the Big East portion of their schedule Saturday, Jan. 5 when they face No. 11/10 Louisville. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at McGrath-Phillips Arena.
