In awards season the question is not always “who won?” but “who wore what?” At the 83rd annual Academy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 27, celebrities walked the red carpet dressed to impress. The Best
Favorites of the night were Mila Kunis, in her lilac lace Elie Saab gown. The color of the dress was absolutely gorgeous with her skin tone and very appropriate for her age and the occasion.
Although reminiscent of Julie Robert at the 2008 Oscars, Reese Witherspoon looked classically elegant in her black and white Giorgio Armani gown. She absolutely glowed with her “Oscar Barbie” look.
Jennifer Lawrence in her red hot Calvin Klein dress looked simple and flawless. She showed the right amount of skin for her age and if anyone could pull of that dress it is her; I love red on the red carpet.
Justin Timberlake in his Tom Ford tux. The tailoring was incredible and it fit him perfectly. So many men do not know how to wear a suit and JT really pulled it off.
The Worst
Some looks that were less than impressive were Nicole Kidman, in Christian Dior; this gown was definitely one of the worst of the night. To top off the hideous ensemble she paired it with a pair of peach Pierre Hardy peep toes.
Coming in with a close second would be Cate Blanchett, in her Givenchy Haute gown that encircled her chest in a lilac hoop. Blanchett is typically very fashion-forward but the last thing I want to see at the Oscars is this avante-garde look.
Oscar winner Melissa Leo in her gold and white Marc Bower gown looked like an oversized doily. Leo’s dress is not the dress I would want to look back on the night of my first Academy Award.
Every year during awards season celebrities entertain with their over-the-top looks but although the movies were memorable this year the fashion left less of an impression.
