Millender earns spot on Big East Weekly Honor Roll

DePaul Blue Demon women’s basketball junior guard Ashton Millender is on quite a roll.

For the second week in a row, her stellar play has earned her a spot on the Big East Weekly Honor Roll.

Millender was instrumental in helping the Blue Demons clinch their fifth consecutive Big East Conference regular season title (they are co-champions with the Marquette Golden Eagles), averaging 15 points, three rebounds, and two assists in wins against St. John’s and Seton Hall this weekend.

In a 67-54 win against St. John’s on Friday in Queens, N.Y., Millender poured in 14 points on 5-for-12 from the field including four 3-point field goals while corralling three rebounds and dishing out two assists in a game-high 37 minutes of playing time.

On Sunday in a 72-68 victory against Seton Hall that clinched a share of the regular season conference title for the Blue Demons, Millender hit a 3-point field goal in the final 12.5 seconds of the game to seal a victory for the Blue Demons. She led all Blue Demon scorers with 12 points on 5-for-12 from the field and three 3-point field goals.

Millender is one of the best 3-point snipers in the conference, shooting the 3-point ball at a 41.3 percent clip this season which is the second highest mark in the conference and tied for the eighth best percentage in Blue Demon history for a single season. She leads the conference in made 3-point field goals with 86 this season which is tied for the sixth most in a single season in Blue Demon history.

The Blue Demon women now turn their attention to the Big East Tournament which begins Saturday. The Blue Demons earned a first round bye and on Sunday will play the winner of the Xavier and Seton Hall game which is on Saturday.
