Blue Demon softball all over weekly honor roll again
Another week, another Big East Weekly Honor Roll laced with DePaul Blue Demon softball representation.
Blue Demon sophomore outfielder Angela Scalzitti earned Big East Conference Player of the Week honors after totaling six RBIs in DePaul’s dominating three-game sweep against the Villanova Wildcats this past weekend. She posted a .667 batting average and a 1.167 slugging percentage in the series. This season, Scalzitti leads the Blue Demons in on-base percentage (.436) and is second on the team in hits (33) and batting average (.347).
Blue Demon senior pitcher Kennedy Garcia earned a spot on the Big East Weekly Honor Roll after allowing just one run on four hits in a complete game victory against Villanova on Saturday. In 13 appearances this season, Garcia has posted a 2.47 ERA and has fanned 35 hitters in 45.1 innings of work. She is one of three Blue Demon pitchers sporting an ERA under 3.00 through 34 games this season.
The Blue Demons will continue conference play next weekend when they welcome the Georgetown Hoyas to Chicago for a three-game series. Due to inclement weather, the university has canceled the Blue Demon’s game against the Loyola Ramblers scheduled originally for Tuesday evening.

I am sorry you guys are really wrong for your comments. Are you serious?? We are talking about STUDENT ATHLETES and a program that needs some attention. Don’t address the STUDENTS that support this program for WHAT IT IS. We will get NO highly recruited players at this rate. These comments will make a parent rethink DePaul University as a top choice for their STUDENT or STUDENT ATHLETE especially coming from alumni. Sounds like some need to chill out and support the students and find another platform to vent and let the investigators do their job. We all lose when negative comments are made about the University.
