Blue Demons name new softball coach
Will Adix-Zin be a win for the Blue Demons?
The DePaul University athletic department announced this afternoon that it has named former star Blue Demon student athlete Tracie Adix-Zins as its new head softball coach. She will replace Eugene Lenti after the veteran coach of 37 seasons retired in a quiet announcement last month.
The former Big East Pitcher of the Year and second team National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American has served as an assistant coach at Wisconsin, Oklahoma State, and North Carolina State since her graduation from DePaul in 2007. She also was a graduate assistant at South Dakota State.
“I am beyond thrilled and honored to be the new head coach at DePaul,” Adix-Zins said via a statement in a DePaul University athletic department article. “It is definitely a place that I respect and owe so much to and I am so excited to help lead this new era and continue on the legacy that is DePaul softball.”
During her time as a student athlete, Adix-Zins did a lot of winning. In her senior season at DePaul, she posted a 0.89 ERA and a 22-4 record as she guided the Blue Demons to a Women’s College World Series appearance by earning two wins in the Super Regional against heavily-favored Oklahoma.
Adix-Zins inherits a Blue Demon squad that won both the Big East regular season and tournament titles last season while finishing with a 35-17 record before bowing out in the Fayetteville Regional. The Blue Demons have finished above .500 in three consecutive seasons and have won two-straight Big East tournament championships.

Bring back Tyrone Corbin. I hear Oliver Purnell is available, and Jerry Wainwright too. Hark, is Pat Kennedy growing tired of the Iona boiler room?

Hired a woefully unqualified alum? Man, they haven’t tried that strategy before. Looks promising. #notsubtlesarcasm #keepitinthefamilyandkeeplosing
