Cult comedy Arrested Development is scheduled to return with new episodes this month on Netflix. The show aired its last episode seven years ago.
Despite critical acclaim, the show was not considered successful enough by its original network and was canceled after only three seasons.
Thanks to the widespread popularity that the show gained over the years, streaming service Netflix signed on to produce and exclusively air new episodes. Arrested Development will be the latest show to join the company’s new original series lineup, alongside shows such as House of Cards and Lilyhammer.
The show’s social media marketing has been making a lot of buzz online with promotional images referencing gags from old episodes.
The original cast will all be reprising their roles for 15 episodes. The new season is planned as a prequel to a long-rumored (but finally confirmed) Arrested Development movie. Currently there are rumors that more episodes may be in store. Arrested Development’s fourth season airs exclusively on Netflix May 26. Watch a sneak preview below.
