Dropbox giving away 3GB for students

Dropbox, the free online file hosting service is doing a promotion for students where if you register your school “.edu” email address, you get an additional 3GB added to your online storage account. The extra space will be available to registered users for two years.

In addition to the 3GB, students can get more storage depending on how many people register in their school. The more students register their “.edu” addresses, the more storage space they unlock.

DePaul currently has only 133 users who have registered for the free space promotion while the National University of Singapore is at the very top with 16,204.

Using Dropbox, users can log into their Dropbox accounts and access their files via any computer with an internet connection. The service also allows users to backup and sync their files on multiple computers and devices, including their smartphones.

A free Dropbox app is available on the iOS and Google Play appstores. Say goodbye to carrying around those archaic thumb drives, and say hello to cloud storage.
