Hi! My name is Kiersten Sinko. I am a Sophomore and I am the Focus Editor.
I wanted to be the Focus Editor because I am interested in feature and in-depth pieces. Chicago is such an inspiration to journalism, and there is so much that DePaul’s student body can “focus” on.
When I’m not in school or working on the paper, my hobbies include practicing my dancing, blogging about something crafty or burning all the cash in my wallet at Urban Outfitters.
On a Saturday night you’ll find me either cooking or exploring the city…it really depends on my mood.
My favorite thing about DePaul is the atmosphere. Everyone at DePaul has such a love for Chicago and it add so much more to college life. I always wanted to be in a city for college, and DePaul really gives me both the college and city lifestyle that I dreamed of.
The best class I’ve taken so far is Writing, Rhetoric and Discourse 104 because my professor, Pr. Michael Moore, became such an inspiration to my writing. His passion for journalism and the New York Times brought me into a whole new perspective when it comes to my intended career.
I love eating strawberries while procrastinating on my schoolwork.
I’m secretly obsessed with sharpie pens, headbands and Jesus.
You can’t take me away from my blog, Twitter, or whatever book I’m reading at the time!
This summer I’ve been serving blizzards at the Dairy Queen and lying on the beaches out in Connecticut and Cape Cod.
I can’t wait for the school year to begin because I already have so much planned for the year. Not only am I working with the DePaulia, but I also started the DePaul Dance Company which will put on three shows this coming year as well as expanding the word of the Lord around campus through Cru DePaul!
