“There’s adversity,” Pizzotti said. “It’s not the first time, it’s not the last time in their lives they’re gonna deal with adversity. So they’re gonna learn about adversity and be resilient.

“But it also should have taught them that we are good enough to compete with teams in the league, and they should have seen that they’re capable of competing with Providence and some of these other teams that we played well for portions of the game. So they need to hang onto that and then continue to work hard and then realize yeah, in certain moments we have to execute, but I think they should have seen that, yeah, they had an opportunity. We had an opportunity to get the win.”

“I mean, I feel alright,” Davorija said. “I mean, it’s tough after a loss like that, to feel excited about having a season-high. But, I mean, all you can do is just get back in the gym, keep getting better. Hopefully we can get the next one.”

Well, it looks like DePaul won’t be winning today’s game. Head coach Jill Pizzotti calls a timeout with 34 seconds left to go in the game.

Freshman forward Ashley Dinges of Providence makes a 3-pointer to help Providence lead by four. Dinges flexed in front of graduate forward Michelle Ojo of DePaul, which caused Dinges to get a technical foul. Redshirt freshman Ally Timm made a free throw. Three minutes left to go in the game.

With a 3-pointer from Hall of the Providence Friars, she got Providence the lead. Seconds later, Nelson made a 2-pointer which means DePaul snatched back their lead. 4:51 left to go in the game.

As DePaul gets ready to inbound the ball, there have been no baskets made yet this quarter. 7:57 left to go in the game.

Providence was able to catch up to DePaul, who suffered four turnovers within the last five minutes or so of the game. The Friars scored 17 points this quarter, compared to the Blue Demons who only scored eight.

DePaul was up by 11 points at halftime, and now they’re ahead by only one possession. Last quarter of the game starts in just mere seconds.

Providence has been able to score nine points because they’ve been going to the free throw line quite a bit. DePaul has only made four points. 4:34 left to go in the third quarter.

DePaul hasn’t made a basket coming into the second half — the only points they’ve gotten so far are two free throws from West. 7:30 left to go in the third quarter.

DePaul is heading into halftime with 43 points — in their last home game, they only scored 48 points the whole game. They’re currently 14-for-28 (50%), while Providence is 11-for-29 (37.9%). The highest scorer so far is Davorija with 11 points.

Davorija nails another 3-pointer, her third of the game. She currently has 11 points, which is now her season-high. Her previous season-high was against Villanova on Dec. 29. A little less than two minutes to go in the second.

Hagemann laid down a three-point shot, which now means the Blue Demons have made five 3-pointers. A little more than eight minutes to go in the second quarter.

DePaul only had five 3-pointers in their last game against St. John’s, and they already have three 3-pointers in today’s game. They’ve made 38.5% of their shots (5-for-13) so far, while Providence has made 15.4% (2-for-13).

3-pointers have been key for DePaul — they already have three just this quarter alone. Providence has none, and have only made two 2-pointers and four free throws. 1:36 left to go in the first quarter.

Despite the almost five point difference, the Friars do have a 38.3% field goal percentage compared to DePaul’s 36.5%.
