Former DePaul Blue Demon guard Allie Quigley was honored during the second round of the Big East women’s basketball program at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut as part of the conference’s Big East Basketball Legends Recognition Program.
Quigley, a Joliet, Illinois native, played four seasons for the Blue Demons, three of which were in the Big East after the team left Conference USA (CUSA) following her freshman campaign in 2004-05. In her first collegiate season, Quigley led her conference in three-pointers made (79) and three-point efficiency (45.7%). Her performance that year earned her a CUSA All-Freshman nod and the league’s Rookie of the Year award.
Over her next three seasons in the Big East, Quigley was named to the conference’s first or second team every year. In her four seasons, the Blue Demons never missed the NCAA tournament, making it as far as the regional semifinal in her sophomore season following a 27-7 regular season record.
Quigley’s 2,078 career points rank third-most of all-time by a Blue Demon. She also ranks within top 10 of program history in assists (427), steals (214) and made three-pointers (248).
After her time at DePaul, Quigley was selected 22nd overall in the 2008 WNBA draft by the Seattle Storm. Following five years split between Seattle, the Phoenix Mercury, the Indiana Fever and the San Antonio Silver Stars, Quigley was signed by her hometown team, the Chicago Sky, ahead of the 2013 campaign.
She remained with the Sky for 10 seasons where she won two Sixth Player of the Year awards, was named to three All-Star teams and won the 2021 WNBA Finals, the first and only championship in franchise history.
Quigley was honored during halftime of the tournament’s second round game between No. 1 seed UConn and No. 8 seed Georgetown.
The other honorees included Butler’s Mary Shaw (1990-93), UConn’s Peggy Myers (1982-86), Creighton’s Jaylyn Agnew (2015-20), Georgetown’s Katie Fudd (1998-2001), Marquette’s Christina Quaye (2003-07), Providence’s Tracy Lis (1988-92), St. John’s Aliyyah Handford (2012-16), Seton Hall’s Phyllis Mangina (1977-81), Villanova’s Helen Koskinen-Perretta (1986-90) and Xavier’s Nicole Levandusky (1997-2001).
The conference will similarly name male conference legends next week during the men’s Big East basketball tournament at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Former Blue Demon forward David Booth is set to represent DePaul.
