Junior guard Layden Blocker announced in an Instagram post today that he will return to DePaul for the 2026-27 season.
This will be Blocker’s senior season, having been with the program since his sophomore year — head coach Chris Holtmann’s first season at the helm.
The Blue Demons return their third-highest scorer and leader in assists and steals per game.
Blocker’s 11.1 points per game only trailed seniors CJ Gunn and NJ Benson. He averaged 3.5 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
With Gunn, Benson and Brandon Maclin having completed their final season, the Blue Demons are losing three of their top four scorers heading into the fall.
By retaining Blocker, DePaul returns one of their best scorers and the only player other than Gunn, Benson and Maclin to average double digits in scoring. He joins sophomore forward Théo Pierre-Justin, freshman guard Kruz McClure, sophomore guard Amsal Delalić and sophomore center Fabián Flores as players who have announced their return to the program for the 2026-27 season.
