A DePaul student was the victim of an aggravated robbery early this morning at the 900 block of West Belden Avenue.
The student was walking home at 2 a.m. when a man came from behind him and threw him to the ground. The man then took the student’s cell phone and wallet and fled east down Belden, according to a public safety alert.
The student ran after the man but was not able to catch him. The student said the male offender was wearing a black hat, plain white sweatshirt and blue sweat pants.
This is the first reported robbery since Aug. 6 when a male DePaul student was the victim of an armed robbery near the corner of Kenmore and Belden on the Lincoln Park Campus.
DePaul Public Safety could not be reached by phone for comment Tuesday afternoon.
