Guest Letters
Guest Letters and Essays – Submission Policy
We welcome guest essays and letters to the editor from members of the DePaul community. This includes current students, faculty, staff, administrators and alumni. Submissions should present a clear argument, rooted in fact and drawn from your experience, expertise or perspective.
Our goal is to publish a wide range of thoughtful opinions on newsworthy topics, public debates and campus life. Whether you’re sharing a personal experience, offering a counterargument or proposing a solution to an issue that matters to our readers — we want to hear from you.
We accept:
- First-person reflections and reported opinion pieces
- Essays from students, faculty, staff or alumni
What makes a strong submission?
- A clear point of view or argument
- Evidence, personal experience or unique insight to support your position
- Relevance to campus, local or national conversations
Essays may challenge our editorial views or current coverage — we believe debate is essential to our mission. However, all coverage, even in the opinion pages, must still follow our code of ethics — and no letter is guaranteed publication.
To submit:
Please send your essay (no more than 800 words) to the Opinions Editor. Include a brief author bio, a few headline suggestions, and any relevant affiliations.
- Students and alumni: Please note your graduation year and college.
- Faculty and staff: Please include your department, role or any relevant university appointments.
