“I’m Full” by Wallows

It wouldn’t be right to start this off without my top listened to artist for the past six years. Driving at night would not be the same without Wallows in general, but the album “Nothing Happens” is truly one of my all time favorites, and I find new things to relate to during everything I go through.

“Romance is Boring” by Los Campesinos!

I have been obsessed with this band as of late, and I love its album title, “Romance is Boring.” What can I say, I love indie rock. Truly this song makes me feel cooler than I am, blasting it on the CTA knowing no one else probably knows this goldmine of a song. I can’t lie, it is also an incredibly fire song to listen to when going through a breakup and reminding yourself that you are super cool.

“All I Need” by The Frights

Another severely underrated band: The Frights. Something about the way he sings scratches my brain in a great way. I was in one of my first mosh pits at one of their shows in Denver, Colorado, and had the chance to photograph them on their tour this year. Both times I had some of the most fun ever. This song gets me in the mood to have fun with my friends and stress less, reminding me how things don’t always have to be so serious and I can enjoy the time I have here with some of my best friends.

“In the Aeroplane Over the Sea” by Neutral Milk Hotel

I found this song recently, and it has been on repeat ever since. It is very grounding in that I have left and makes me want to enjoy everything I get to experience. I see this song as a love letter to living and how I shouldn’t take the time I have for granted. It's important to go out with my friends, explore where I can, and live without worry because in the end we are all just ash.

“Fifteen Minutes” by Mike Krol

To end my theme of existentialism, I think this is a great closer. I love everything about this, the pure noise makes me feel like the world is ending and I enjoy every second of it. Truly, my music taste seems to be songs that remind me of my existence as a person and what I should do with it. Besides all of the sappy love for life I have, this song incites a feeling of panic in me of what am I doing? What should I do? The balance of both is perfect to me.
