Blue Demons add junior college All-American to 2019-2020 roster
Junior college All-American Kiara Dallmann has signed with DePaul women’s basketball, making her the program’s second signee over the past week following the signing of Michigan point guard Deja Church.
Dallmann is a 6-foot-2-inch forward from Sheboygan, Wisconsin who played at Iowa Western Community College for two years and started all 58 games. In March, Dallmann led her team to the NJCAA Region XI Championship and within one game of the national junior college championship.
Dallmann is eligible immediately since she is done attending junior college. Last year, Dallmann made 61.2 percent of her field goal attempts, good for fifth-best in NJCAA Division I after averaging a team-high 13.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
Furthermore, Dallmann was named ICCACC Division I Player of the Year and ended her junior college career scoring in double digit figures in 11 consecutive games. As a freshman in 2017-2018, Dallmann shot a program-record 70.9 percent from the field and averaged 10.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per outing.
DePaul head coach Doug Bruno expects Dallmann to transition well within a system led by incoming senior forward Chante Stonewall, the Most Outstanding Player in the 2019 Big East Tournament, and point guard Kelly Campbell.
“We are very excited about such a talented player like Kiara Dallmann saying yes to DePaul,” Bruno said. “Kiara fits a specific need and will add so much to our program with her inside-out versatility.”
Dallmann’s combination of length and shooting ability could help DePaul improve on both ends of the floor. She totaled 19 blocks and 15 steals in her final season at Iowa Western while shooting 36.3 percent from behind the 3-point line, an improvement from her freshman year when she shot just 16.7 percent from deep.
Next year’s front court will include Stonewall, Dallmann and Dege Jean. They are going to be joined by a trio of freshmen forwards with Keimari Rimmer, Kayla Caudle and Hannah Purcell coming to DePaul this summer.
“With the graduation of Honorable Mention All-American Mart’e Grays, Kiara will make an immediate impact on next year’s front line.”
