Thousands gather to protest police killing of Adam Toledo

CHICAGO—Crowds gathered in Logan Square Park to protest police violence on April 16, one day after the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) publicly released the body camera footage of the March 29 police shooting of 13-year-old Adam Toledo in Little Village. The protest began at 5:30 p.m. with a series of speakers at the Illinois Centennial Monument and the crowd began marching toward Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s house at around 7:00 p.m.

A 13 year old boy was shot and killed by CPD (Chicago Police Department) yes we all know he was armed but do your research better! Roman Ruben was with Adam Toledo that night at 2:30 am. The police were chasing them both, a female officer was able to get Roman while the other officer got Adam, yes Adam was armed because Roman gave him that gun, yet Adam had that gun because he lived in the hood so he wanted to feel protected. Once Adam stopped running he threw the gun behind the fence because he didn’t want to get shot, once he turned around and put his hands up…the officer has shot him right on the chest. That day that boy should have not been shot, Adam Toledo was a 13 year old boy who just stated living his life, he was a sweet, funny, caring, most energetic person, who was enjoying his life. All that has ended. Even after not telling his mother he was dead, she just thought he was out with friends or missing, his mother doesn’t deserve her little boy to be gone. This breaks all mothers hearts when your baby is gone, Adam deserves justice! Roman should deserve to be behind bars for years. We are still trying to get justice for Adam. We can fight through it!! I wish I can give Adam’s mom a hug so bad, but I can’t, he’s all in our hearts. R.I.P LLA ?❤️
