DePaul women’s soccer undefeated season continued Friday and this time, they’re headed to the Big East finals.
The Blue Demons (16-0-3) edged Marquette in a shootout (4-3) to advance. They will play in the finals on Sunday.
In the shootout, Marquette and DePaul traded made goals at 3 a piece. However, a Marquette attempt sailed over the goal post, setting up DePaul to take the lead. DePaul defender Elizabeth Endy hit the eventual game-winner.
Needing a goal to survive, Marquette missed their next attempt with a kick to left and the rest of the Blue Demons ran to Endy to celebrate.
This is the second year in a row that DePaul has advanced to the Big East finals. A year ago, they lost, coincidentally, to Marquette 2-0.
