  • Aldo Alan Navarrete is a graduate student at DePaul studying vocal performance.

  • Navarrete was born in Acapulco, Mexico. He lived there until his family immigrated to California when he was 16. Although music is his primary focus, he says visual art has also been of great interest to him. Here, Navarrete poses with two paintings he completed recently.

  • As a first year graduate, Navarrete chose to attend DePaul for its esteemed School of Music.

  • Navarrete teaches his friend and fellow DePaul graduate student, Ashutosh Mutatkar, how to draw and paint a portrait.

  • Navarrete shares a laugh with Saori Chiba, his pianist for rehearsal.

  • Navarrete, who attributes much of his passion of singing to being exposed to Shakira’s music when he was six years old, sings in a practice room at DePaul’s School of Music.

  • An untitled painting by Navarette.

  • Although it is a passion of his, Navarette says that visual art can be an outlet for him to unwind at the end of the day, as he’s seen here sketching in his apartment.
