DePaul looked to push past the slump they were in lately against Big East opponents. With back-to-back Big East matches against Providence on Friday and UConn on Saturday. 

The Blue Demons got their first Big East win Friday against Providence three sets to one, hoping this win can just start their winning ways.

In what is still a maturing young roster, the Blue Demons went with a little bit of a different combination of players that contributed to the win. 

“We are a really deep team, and we just felt that against a team that is very difficult to defend on defense because they miss direct and they shoot a lot of stuff across, and they are nontraditional in their offense that we needed a little bit of a pure defender.” Head Coach Zidek said. 

In Blue Demons’ win on Friday, junior Libero Rachel Krasowski achieved 1,000 career digs in just her first three seasons on the team. 

Krasowski was a large part in making sure the defense was sound against Providence, and she was able to come through when needed as finished with a game high of 15 digs. 

“We came in knowing we had to respect every team that we play against and that it’s going to be a dog fight.” Krasowski said. “At the end of the day we were just like stick in it together, being aggressive and staying aggressive. So we just kind of came out there and gave them our best throughout the day.” 

DePaul understood that against Big East opponents every win is not only hard to come by, but also every win or loss is a great opportunity to get better. 

The Blue Demon offense was effective in all parts of the offense, as the middle and both outside hitters combined for 32 kills which made the offense unpredictable.
