Creighton’s McKenzie Fujan scored 38 points and the Creighton Blue Jays (9-6, 3-0) snapped DePaul women’s basketball six-game win streak, beating the Blue Demons (10-4, 1-1) 86-78 Saturday at D.J. Sokol Arena.
Fujan, a senior, was averaging 9.4 points per game prior to facing DePaul. Her 38 points, 28 of them in the second half, sparked a second half comeback as the Blue Jays outscored DePaul 57-41 after halftime.
The Blue Demons led 37-29 at halftime, but the Blue Jays closed the half on a 9-2 run. DePaul’s largest lead was 15, when they led 27-12 with 8:05 to go in the first.

DePaul would continue to fight and tied the game at 56 after a layup by Chanise Jenkins. Jenkins finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Still, the Blue Demons failed to get defensive stops. Fujan buried three pointers to keep the Blue Demons at bay and separated her team with a ten point lead, 76-66, in the final five minutes. DePaul couldn’t close the gap.
Creighton shot 51 percent (28-55) and 44 percent (11-25) from beyond the arc.
