DePaul men’s basketball freshman Billy Garrett Jr. earned his first honor Monday by being named Big East Rookie of the Week.
Garrett Jr. is averaging 8.6 points per game and 4.1 assists per game this season. In his latest game against Oregon State, Garrett Jr. had his best game as a Blue Demon – scoring 15 points and dishing out 10 assists. It was the first double-double of his collegate career.
Garrett Jr. is the second Blue Demon to be named Big East Rookie of the week. Tommy Hamilton IV was named it during the first week of the season.
Both players join Brandon Young and Cleveland Melvin as the only other rookies to be named Big East Rookie of the Week in the same season for DePaul.
