The DePaulia interviewed DePaul men’s basketball players Forrest Robinson and Durrell McDonald to create a playlist of songs that pump them up and soothe their nerves before a big game.

1. The Temptations — “My Girl”

Robinson said upbeat and groovy songs such as “My Girl” help him find a zen emotional balance before a big game.

“I don’t need to be too amped, and I don’t need to be too low,” he said.

2. Adrian Marcel — “Honey”

“It’s smooth,” Robinson said of the R&B singer. “I like to get mellow before the game.”

3. Yung Thug and Rich Homie Quan — “Bullet”

“His voice is so annoying, but it makes me laugh,” Robinson said. “It gets me in a good mood because it makes me laugh.”

4. Mac Miller — “Friends”

“It’s calm, and the lyrics are beautiful,” McDonald said. “It just helps me relax.”

5. Ab Soul — “Gods Reign”

McDonald said he finds this song’s lyrics inspirational.

“It gives me focus, as well,” he said. “That’s what I like about him.”

6.  Joe Budden— “Cut from a Different Cloth”

For McDonald, “Different Love” is all about the lyrics.

“The lyrics just get me motivated,” he said.
