Cook is a 6’10, 305 lb center from Arnet, West Virginia. He is ranked as a 3-star recruit by ESPN and by 247sports.com, and originally was committed to West Virginia. He made a commitment to the Mountaineers when he was a freshman in 2012 and de-committed in 2014. He re-classified to the class of 2016 and re-opened his commitment. He visited DePaul on Feb. 20 and made his verbal commitment on Twitter this morning.
This addition gives DePaul four freshmen joining the team for the 2016-17 season, along with senior transfer Chris Harrison-Docks. The other three commits are forward Algevon Eichelberger and guards Devin Gage and Brandon Cyrus.
The commitment helps replenish forward depth for the Blue Demons going into 2016-17. They recently lost three freshman forwards to transfers, leaving them very scarce with big-man depth. This addition helps in that department, and DePaul is not done yet. They still have two scholarship spots open, and three roster spots overall.

One mistake in this story: Instead of saying DePaul “lost three freshman forwards to transfer, leaving them very scarce with big-man depth”. Instead it should say “negligently recruiting the three lost freshmen in the first place left them very scarce with big-man depth”.
