Paul Reed throws down one of many Blue Demon dunks in a 90-70 win against UIC on Friday.

Fueled by two double-double performances, DePaul Blue Demon sophomore big man Paul Reed has earned his first career nomination to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll.

In games against Butler on Wednesday and Seton Hall on Saturday, Reed averaged 20.5 points per game on 59.3 percent from the field and grabbed 13.0 rebounds. He blocked four shots in the two games, went 2-for-2 from 3-point land [marking the first time this season he’s sunk one from that range], and drained all seven of the free throws he attempted. He’s on a three game double-double streak after recording his first career double-double on Jan. 12 against St. John’s to start the streak.

At times in these recent games, Reed has played an integral role in carrying the Blue Demon offense. He and fellow big man Femi Olujobi recorded all 10 of the Blue Demons second half field goals against Butler. In the Blue Demons road win against Seton Hall on Saturday, Reed scored 13 points and had two key blocks in the final 10 minutes to help DePaul hold on for the win.

In conference play, Reed is the leading rebounder [9.8 per game] and 11th-leading scorer [16.0 per game] in the Big East.

Reed and the Blue Demons travel to Milwaukee on Wednesday to battle No. 12 Marquette. The game starts at 7:30 p.m.
