Theatre School Fundraiser Tessa Craib-Cox, 1944-2012
Tessa Craib-Cox-who helped raise more than $2.2 million and create 50 scholarships for DePaul’s Theatre School- died of leukemia at the age of 67, the Chicago Tribune reports. Craib-Cox served as the Theatre School’s director of development, and also worked on the establishment of a new Theatre School building on Racine and Fullerton.
“Tessa not only raised money but was such a great supporter of student work,” Ables told the Tribune. “She rarely missed a student performance.” The Theatre School’s 2012-2013 season will be dedicated in her honor.
In addition to her work at DePaul, Craib-Cox was the director of resource development for the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago for 12 years. Craib-Cox is survived by her daughter Susanna Jane, her son Justin, two grandchildren, and siblings Fiona Roe, Fenella Heckscher, James Greig and Ian Greig.
DePaul Law Veteran Named “Veteran of the Month”
The Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs (IDVA) named DePaul Law student and U.S Army veteran Daniel Sylvester their July 2012 “Veteran of the Month” for Sylvester’s involvement in his community.
Sylvester earned more than 10 medals in his 11-year military career, and founded the Veteran’s Assistance Service Organization (VASO) during his time at DePaul. VASO ran campaigns to supply crafts for wounded soldiers and wool socks for homeless veterans, and hosted a “Veteran’s Week” at the College of Law to discuss issues that impact veterans.
“Daniel Sylvester epitomizes the fact that veterans continue to serve after taking off the uniform,” IDVA Director Erica Borggren said in a statement. “He has made a deep impact on Illinois veterans through his work at DePaul University College of Law, consistently advocating on their behalf.”

– DePaul Law alum and defense attorney Joel Brodsky, in reference to his client Drew Peterson’s incarceration garments, Tuesday. Peterson was indicted on two counts of murder in the death of his third ex-wife, Kathleen Savio, in 2009. The case is now moving to an appellate court. Peterson is a former Illinois police officer who was under widespread media attention following the 2007 disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson. A made-for-TV movie was released in 2011 about his experiences.

The Taco Bell at 2575 N. Clybourn Ave. holds a 4.5 star rating over 158 reviews on business-review website Yelp, where its fans gush about the prompt service and food that “actually looks like the pictures on the menu,” according to Yelp “Elite ’12” user Joel M.
“This must be a training store for Taco Bell all-stars or managers or something,” Joel wrote in his five-star review. “This is not a joke, this place is the real deal.”
