DePaul men’s basketball has landed Magoon Gwath, the team announced Friday. The 7’0” sophomore forward played his first two seasons at San Diego State (2024-26). He redshirted the 2023-24 season.
“We are excited to add Magoon to our frontcourt and our DePaul basketball family,” head coach Chris Holtmann said in the release. “He has length, athleticism, versatility and a high defensive IQ. He has also shown the ability to make threes at an efficient rate.
“His continued skill development offensively will be important for his growth and success. We look forward to getting him here and getting to work as he transitions to the Big East and contributes to what we are building here in Chicago.”
In the 2025-26 season, Gwath averaged 8.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. He shot 51.9% from the field and 43.5% from three (20-of-46). He played in 25 games, starting in 16.
In the 2024-25 season, Gwath was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year.
With the acquisition of Gwath, the Blue Demons add more size to the 2026-27 roster. They currently have three players who are 7-foot or taller: Gwath, Wilson Jacques and Fabián Flores.
