A big week for DePaul men’s basketball freshman Eli Cain has netted him the Big East Freshman of the Week award.
Cain averaged 15.5 points and shot .706 from the field in DePaul’s wins over University of Illinois-Chicago and Chicago State. He had 11 points against UIC and led the team with 20 points against Chicago State. The Blue Demons improved to 4-3 with the two wins, extending their win streak to three games.
He is the first DePaul player to win freshman of the week since 2013-14, which saw RJ Currington, Tommy Hamilton, and Billy Garrett Jr. all win it at least once.
Butler’s Kellen Dunham won Big East Player of the Week.
The Blue Demons return to action Wednesday when they travel to Des Moines to play Drake.
