    Timeout with Katelyn Braget

    Katelyn Braget is a junior outfielder for the DePaul softball team. Going into the weekend series against St. John’s, she had started 13 of the season’s 21 games. Through the same period she was hitting .250 with four runs scored and seven RBI. Three of her 11 total hits have been efor extra bases, including a game-winning home run to beat Nevada 3-2.Q: How long have you been playing softball?

    A: I started at the age of 12, so nine years.

    Q: How did you get started?

    A: My mom wanted me to get into it because softball was her thing. It was to try something new.

    Q: Did you play any other sports growing up?

    A: Basketball until my sophomore year of high school.

    Q: How did you choose DePaul?

    A: When I met the softball team they were like a family and I love the city.

    Q: What’s your favorite thing about DePaul?

    A: Being in the city.

    Q: What has been your proudest moment playing for the team?

    A: Recently, my homerun.

    Q: Do you hope to go pro?

    A: No, but I hope to still be active with softball.

    Q: What’s your major?

    A: Physical education.

    Q: What’s your dream job?

    A: I’m working towards being a special education teacher.

    Q: Who do you look up to?

    A: I look up to the seniors on the team. In my personal life I look up to my mom and sister.

    Q: What’s your favorite movie?

    A: Love and Basketball.

    Q: What do you do in your free time?

    A: I like to chill and play basketball with my teammates.

    Q: What’s your favorite thing about softball?

    A: My teammates.

    Q: What’s your favorite music?

    A: Rock and metal.

    Q: What do you hope to accomplish in your time at DePaul?

    A: Going to the softball world series.
