Electronica Weekly: Diplo and DJ Fresh

Diplo and DJ Fresh’s latest collaboration titled “Earthquake” is their newest production that will be released next year. Both are label-mates on Mad Decent, and need no introduction to electronic music lovers.

Wesley Pentz – better known as Diplo -is now a Los Angeles-based producer (originally based in Philadelphia), who is known for his unique approach to electronic music. His tracks differ in genre sometimes, but have the unique Diplo vibe. Tracks like “Express Yourself” and “Set It Off” really define the emotion he is trying to pass to the crowd.

DJ Fresh is also a known producer, especially with his track “Goldust”. The London-based artist is signed under Ministry of Sound label, which will be releasing “Earthquake” next year. He will be playing at Electric Daisy Carnival in Joliet during Memorial Day weekend.

The collaboration is really unique, with the incorporation of both their styles. The vocals by Dominique Young Unique really heighten the breakdown. The trap beat contains many different sounds, especially the high pitch synth that accompanies the beat. The drums are punchy, and his snares create a synergy in his sound.

Diplo will be performing at DePaul’s Fest 2013 Friday, May 24. Tickets are only $10, so be sure to not miss the opportunity to see one of these creative artists live.
