Electronica Edition: Figure

Take dubstep and throw it into a pit of drums on drums on drums. Voila– drumstep.

One of the premier drumstep gurus in the game is Figure. Although his obvious favorite holiday is Halloween (look into his tracks from the “Monsters of Drumstep” collection, like “Leather Face,” “The Werewolf,” “Boogie Man” and “Beetlejuice.” Seriously. Do it.), he put together a little something for our upcoming soundtrackless holiday: New Year’s Eve.

Figure gives the drumstep treatment to the classic “Auld Land Syne,” the tune you typically hear after midnight. Figure’s remix, titled “The Ball Drop,” is a very fitting way to celebrate the progress made in 2011 in the electronic music scene and to ring in all things bass and synth to come in the new year.

If you’re hosting your own NYE shindig, grab this free download; it’s worth attempting to start this track exactly 0:44 seconds before the ball drops. Trust me.
