Three social apps for smartphones

There are a lot of interactive applications out there for use while the summer is starting. First, there was Instagram, then Vine, and now Snapchat? What’s the difference between them all? Let’s take a closer look into the apps and see which one you would prefer.

ξ

Instagram: Free

Until now, Instagram was just an application that took photos and you were able to enhance them with filters. For the past two and a half years, it was a way to show your friends and family what you were doing and you were able to share your pictures on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and other social media websites. Now Instagram has added a new feature: capturing videos. You can now go on Instagram and record those special moments and still filter and share them with your family and friends. Neat, huh? The only bad news is that it isn’t compatible with Android phones. Hope all you IPhone people are enjoying this new feature.

Vine: Free

This year, a new application was developed called Vine. In this app, you can capture 10-15 second videos of anything you want. Many people have used this app to capture those hilarious once-in-a-lifetime moments or create videos of anything. Lately, there has been a Vine page for entertaining videos on Facebook, but this application has videos of everything from food, to sports and pets. You can also share these videos on any social media site and it’s compatible with iPhones and Android phones.

Snapchat: Free

Have you ever posted pictures on Facebook only to take them down due to how embarrassing they were to you or someone else? Well, Snapchat is an app for you. Like Instagram, you can take pictures, but there are no filters. There are some cool features in this app, though. You can write a short message on the picture and you can even draw on the picture. You can also take short videos with Snapchat and share them with your friends. The only thing is, you can only see the videos or pictures for up to 10 seconds long. After that, you can never see the picture or video again. So you can continue to send silly and outrageous pictures because they will disappear within 10 seconds or less. This app is compatible with iPhones and Android phones.

After looking at all 3 apps, which one do you prefer? Keeping pictures forever, keeping videos forever, or how about keeping them for 10 seconds or less? Depending on whatever you prefer, each of these apps are free and fun to use for the summer. Take a picture, take a snap, take a video Š—ê whatever you feel like doing. Just make sure it’s compatible with your phone and have loads of fun with them this summer.
