Electronica Weekly: Flosstradamus and A-Trak

Electronic music keeps evolving, and the resurgence of Trap music is something crucial in our time. Many DJ’s are reviving this style of music, which is based on slowed-down Hip-Hop samples, sounds effects, grime-y synth leads, and of course the 808 Roland drum.

Although the genre existed before, many producers decided to bring it back to the spot light. One of my favorite Trap artists is none other, than the Flosstradamus duo. Chicago Natives, Curt Cameruci (aka Autobot) and Josh Young (aka J2K), are probably one of the best definition of Trap music. Throwing down hard at every show they had, the vibe they transfer to the crowd is nuts. In 2012’s West Festival, the police had to shut down their show, due to the crowd going bonkers.

Their recent track, “Piss Test” is a collaboration with the Canadian producer, A-Trak. Alain Macklovitch is no newcomer to the scene. Being DMC World Champion in 1997, he is the youngest DJ to ever attain such title! Nonetheless, his work is phenomenal.

With the perfect blend of Electro House, Hip-Hop, Electronica and Dubstep, he creates music for any situation possible. Regardless, “Piss Test” is a trap favorite. With samples from Juicy J, Jim Jones and EL-P, the track is a must-have for every trap lover.

If you never seen Flosstradamus, then your chance arises! He is throwing a show with Dillon Francis, March 8. If you looking for guaranteed fun, and over-the-top Trap music, this event should be marked in your calendars.
