    With four hat tricks, hockey sweeps Kansas

    No. 4 DePaul Hockey Club swept the University of Kansas, winning Friday 10-5 and Saturday 16-1. Eleven players combined for 26 points in the series, with three players scoring a total of four hat tricks.”I don’t think that we’ve had more than one person get a hat trick in the same game before that, so it’s cool to see,” said Billy Allen, who had five goals on the weekend, including one of three hat tricks Saturday.

    Friday’s game started slowly for DePaul (19-6), who briefly fell behind 2-1 in the second period; however, two consecutive goals off of Taylor Paine, who tallied a hat trick per game, put DePaul back on top. It was almost 25 minutes before another Jayhawk scored.

    During that time period, Allen, Danny Pietro and Vince Conenna scored goals, Conenna with two. Ryan Dunn scored his second goal of the game and Kansas’ first goal following the 6-0 DePaul run; Grant Worden and Justin Jez also scored for the Jayhawks.
