Jacqui Grant and Amarah Coleman made eligible

Sophomore guard Amarah Coleman and junior forward Jacqui Grant were granted eligibility to play immediately, DePaul announced Wednesday.

Coleman and Grant both transferred from Illinois where they left on sour terms. Both families filed letters to the school saying that they had faced verbal abuse from head coach Matt Bollant and former assistant Mike Divilbiss.

They missed the first couple of weeks of the season due to NCAA rules regarding transferring to different schools, which would have force them to redshirt in 2015-16. DePaul, however, made an appeal on their behalf, which was granted by the NCAA.

This result adds depth to the Blue Demons’ roster, giving DePaul more options at forward and more depth at guard. Grant, who is 6-foot-3, averaged 9.1 points and 7.0 rebounds a game in 2014-15. She could contend with sophomore Mart’e Grays for a starting spot. Coleman, who is 5-foot-11, averaged 7.6 points per game last season with the Illini.

Both will be eligible for DePaul’s game on Friday against Colgate.
